Everything about Drt Entertainment totally explained
DRT Entertainment was a
New York City based
independent record label founded in
2003 by
Derek Shulman,
Ron Urban and
Theodore "Ted" Green. In 2007 bands on the label came forward claiming that DRT hadn't paid them for their releases. The label is now looking for new investors.
Billing itself as a "home for former major-label artists with an established fan base". The company previously signed a U.S. distribution deal with
Universal Music Group's
Fontana Distribution. DRT is also distributed by
Universal Music Canada and a variety of companies in the rest of the world including
Pinnacle in the United Kingdom and
JVC Records in Japan.
DRT has one subsidiary label,
Brass Tacks Records. It is a
vanity label founded by the
Street Dogs.
DRT also remasters and re-releases older material pertinent to the label. In 2005, it released "35th Anniversary" editions of many CDs by
Gentle Giant, Shulman's former band. (Thirty-five years after the debut album.)
